You are strongly encouraged to participate in the program with your partner. There are several benefits for you attending together. One is a more complete picture when two views are combined. Another is mutual participation in decision-making and goal setting.
How you will be involved depends on what you want. It is useful for you to do some thinking beforehand on these questions:
- What do I want from my experience at the Center?
- What are my thoughts and feelings about our present circumstances?
- What are my hopes for our future work and life together?
Partner Participation: Option A (2 day Career Counseling Program)
- Because the focus is on the primary person registered for this program, there is no additional cost for your participation, unless you choose to take one or more inventories (see Inventory section below).
- The following is the typical schedule for an Option A partner . . .
Inventories: For your own information, you may want to take some of the instruments your partner has taken. Your partners career counselor will include you in the interpretation of these instruments, and provide you with materials you can keep.
Inventory Costs: At the end of the program, you will be billed for any assessments you have taken.
Partner Participation: Option B (3 days)
A partner is strongly encouraged to register as an Option B participant when one or more of the following is true . . .
- The stresses of ministry have caused significant pressures on the relationship or family resulting in tension,
or
- A partner is also considering work or career options, and desires equal opportunity to explore vocational and personality factors to assist with decision making.
During this Career Counseling program option, you and your partner will meet together in planning with your counselor, as well as with the psychologist, and . . .
- Complete various inventories appropriate to your situation and needs.
- Process with your counselor issues and needs related to career and life direction within the context of the realities you face.
- Discuss with your counselor inventory data in order to foster greater self-awareness of your personality styles, behavior patterns, and vocational interests related to work and life direction.
- Explore with your counselor strengths and weaknesses.
- Be assisted in developing an action plan for personal and professional development of your life goals.
